Hi Smiley
His name is Josef, like the inventor of the word "robot", Josef Čapek. Wink
About his girlfriend, I don't know.  Roll Eyes

I didn't know that...fun! Josef's girlfriend reminds me of Maria, as in Metropolis.

That's a much better similarity than my joke about Tarzan's Jane!  Oh but what a sad fate Maria suffers at the hands of the mad scientist!   Cry
How about this one: Josef's girlfriend could be named Rosie (after the robot maid from the '60s animated US T.V. series The Jetsons).

No, Rosie is more like a fat auntie character while Josef's girlfriend is a hot-bot.

But is that Maria or is it Hel? So...maybe Josef + Maria = too much allegory, even if Metropolis and Machinarium both resemble Breughel's Tower of  Babel:

And...maybe Jane is on the right trail. How about Jana, as in Karel Zeman's Vynalez zkazy (The Fabulous World of Jules Verne) ?

Totally, I was going to make a thread requiesting that single set of sprites, haha.

I'd actually PAY for that set... I mean it. If you are out there and you can read this, I'm willing to.

Awww it's better if he doesn't have a name Sad Part of Machinarium's magic is the ambiguity - everything is what you make of it, with nothing actually written down, so his name could be anything you wanted Smiley

and I hope this continues ★
